Art from Ayesha's Portfolio
Fine Art Batik Illustrations
Batik is used to illustrate inspiration from the natural world in the form of flowers, turtles, flying ninja bugs, butterfly wings, among many other things. These batiks are done on cotton, silk, linen, rayon and other fabrics.
moreDesign and Printing
Ayesha has participated in and completed several design and printing projects where her new designs or her existing designs were printed on various items from t-shirts to programs to glasses to invitations. Her favorite commission was her friend's wedding logo, which was used on the invitations and other accessories at the reception. She also provided the surf smelt batik to the California-Nevada chapter of the American Fisheries Society for use as logo for the 2009 regional meeting.
moreFlower Photography
Ayesha loves to take closeup pictures of flowers. She imagines how insects see flowers and what parts look like a place to land or something to eat.
moreKid's Clothes and Crafts
Baby onesies and t-shirts, baby and little girl dresses, flour sack towels, aprons and other household items are batiked and sewn from various batiked fabrics to come up with crafty inspirations for the kids and home.
moreSelf Portrait
In 2006, Ayesha completed a book with an 11-year series of self portraits beginning in 1995. The portraits follow her development as a person, an artist and a scientist.
moreClay Sculpture
Ayesha made iron finished clay juvenile Chinook salmon from the Salmon River, fin-clipped and all. Ben Soeby added that lateral line, reluctantly... but she insisted because she had forgotten it and it had to get there before the clay dried.
moreKnitted Toys and other Handicrafts
Ayesha loves to knit and crochet, and she makes toys of all kinds. She is especially inspired by Little Cotton Rabbits.
